Helping Hands

We talked in our children's sermonette down front Sunday about the significance of holding hands. The point being that holding hands lends strength, and helps lead others in the right direction. That thought carries over in regards to lending a helping hand to others. Hebrews 13:16 states: Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

Thanksgiving and Christmas time have traditionally become times to concentrate on those that are in need of assistance. The question becomes: What about the rest of the year? Aren't folks in need of food/shelter/assistance in February? What about August?

The Lord wants us to take care of each other and not just at specific times. Philippians 2:4 says, Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Just a reminder to be aware of those that are in need all around you each and every day. It may not be a direct need of food or shelter, but those in need of emotional support or a kind word are just as in need. Look for those opportunities and help those that are in need of that helping hand.

I think you'll find out that it helps you just as much as it does them...Give it a try.
